City Council Aberdeen
Aberdeen is Scotland’s third largest city with a population of nearly 210,000 and an area of 186 square km. It is the regional centre for the North East of Scotland. Although schemes generated within the Interreg study would impact the whole City, the main focus is on the city centre and transport initiatives where the city centre is the major origin or destination of trips.
This area encompasses the 68,000 square metres where legally permissible hourly and daily concentrations of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM10) are regularly exceeded, to which transport and traffic are the main contributors. Within the CARE-North Project, Aberdeen implemented a Car-Sharing servide (Car Club) in the city. The Aberdeen Car Club opened in April 2012 and closely followed the car-sharing model of the City of Bremen.
